HYS: Should Man United loan out Marcus Rashford?

Jose Mourinho will point to the fact only Romelu Lukaku has made more appearances for Manchester United than Marcus Rashford this season, but in terms of minutes the England international actually ranks eighth throughout the first-team squad.

That’s still impressive involvement for a 20-year-old at a club the size of Manchester United, but it also sums up where Rashford’s career is at right now; one week he’s scoring the winning goals in a Northwest derby, the next he’s only afforded a late cameo outing off the bench.

Which begs an interesting question about the next stage of Rashford’s development, particularly after the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez. While Mourinho clearly feels the forward – who Transfermarkt value at £45milion – can make key contributions to this team, we still don’t really know what Rashford is capable of when he’s starting week-in, week-out.

The chances of receiving that kind of game-time at Old Trafford still appear slim for now, so perhaps a loan spell away from the club next season is required for Rashford to prove he can rival Lukaku for the central striker role on a permanent basis, or at the very least deserve a regular place in United’s starting XI.

So, United fans, would you loan out Rashford next season? Let us know by voting below…
