Wigan open to Danish influence
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez says he is hoping to bringing in some players from the Danish league during the summer.
The Spaniard has often been linked with players from the Scandinavian country but has so far had little success in capturing any of his desired targets.
The Latics have been linked with Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius, Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore and Aalborg forward Nicklas Helenius recently as Martinez begins drawing up his transfer wish list.
The Wigan boss believes there are hidden gems to be unearthed in Denmark and has indicated there could be an influx of Danes at the DW Stadium this summer.
Martinez told Tipsbladet: “I’ve tried to sign Danish players several times before but, due to different reasons, I’ve yet to be successful in doing so.
“I don’t want to name names of specific players out of respect for the clubs involved.
“I am crazy about the Danish mentality towards attacking football, so I hope that we can be luckier in our hunt in the future.”
