The Ligue 1 hitman Arsenal really can’t afford to miss out on…
Since the infamous Olivier Giroud ‘dry run’, which spanned up to 15 games ending in May, it has been widely accepted by the fans, the media, and the club that Arsenal do in fact need a new frontman.
At the start of the summer, the Gunners were linked to the usual suspects, such as Higuaín, Lewandowski, and Aubameyang to name a few, who always seem to grace the back pages of the papers in correlation to Arsenal’s striker searches.
Recently Arsenal have actually signed forward, Takuma Asano, but despite this, he has already been labelled as Wenger as ‘one for the future’. With Giroud still relatively unchallenged, the latest player linked to a move to the Emirates is Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon.

Despite being left out of France’s Euro 2016 squad alongside the likes of Kevin Gameiro, Lacazette has an impressive return, netting 76 times in his last three seasons and would surely be good competition, or even an upgrade on what Arsenal currently have.
As well as this, Lacazette has played for France at all levels from u16s up, but has just the one first team goal to his name from 10 appearances. Although Arsenal had been linked heavily to Jamie Vardy and Alvaro Morata earlier this transfer window, surely the fans would be happy should they sign Alexandre Lacazette.
Lacazette allegedly holds a release clause in his contract where he will be allowed to leave for £34million. This would make him Arsenal’s second most expensive player ever, only to their current star player, Mesut Ozil.
According to the Mirror, it is this hefty fee that has been the ‘stacking point’ in talks so far, even though both Arsene Wenger and Alexandre Lacazette would love to see the move go through. Wenger has previously shown admiration for the hitman and Lacazette himself has made no secret of his desire to play in England, but also in the Champions League.
For this reason, both Tottenham and West Ham have fallen behind in the race, however PSG seem to be the other side realistically chasing the 25 year old’s signature.
Surely Lacazette would be a great 3rd addition to the Emirates outfit, following the acquisition of both Euro star Granit Xhaka and Japanese youngster Takuma Asano for undisclosed fees thought to be in the region of £30m and £3m respectively.
